Character Image:
Image/Face claim: Julian Morris
Name: Prince Phillip Edinburgh
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Occupation: The usual princely duties- Saving Princesses, being handsome. But in all seriousness if he was not a prince he'd like to be an artist.
Family: Father- King Hubert Edinburgh
Friends: Mulan, his horse Samson, Aurora of course
Enemies: Maleficent
Strengths: Phillip is incredibily brave; which is his biggest strength and weakness. He is very skilled in combat, mostly with a sword, and trains everyday. Many of Phillip's friends would describe him as persuasive, and he has a remarkable way of making it sound as if it were your idea in the first place. Mostly Phillip is easy going and easy to like. One of his hidden talents is art; in the form of paintings, but he rarely shows them to anyone.
Weaknesses: Bravery can lead to stupidity. Because Phillip isn't afraid of much, he puts himself into a lot of dangerous and ridiculous situations. Phillip is a pretty big flirt. Though he loves Aurora, he can't help but notice a pretty lady walk by. He tries to remain respectful but most often has to put his foot in his mouth and ends up looking like an idiot. Phillip has little to no skill with a bow and arrow and this is really an annoyance to him. Last but not least, Phillip is an idiotic drunk.
Quote: "Bravery is being the only one who knows you're afraid".
Personality: First and most important, Phillip is one of the bravest men you will ever meet. His bravery stems from his passion for justice and protection of those he loves. He never backs down, even when all seems lost. Once his mind is set, he can not be deterred from his mission. Some may call him stubborn, but others find him admirable and respect him. He has never fallen into the prince stereotype, and refuses to care about politics.
Phillip is extremely laid back in most areas of his life. He takes change in stride, and feels that change is the beauty of life. His is extremely easy to get along with, even when he acts like an idiot he is endearing. He enjoys a friendly conversation with just about anyone, and is the last one to judge. People often mistake his friendliness with naivety; let's get this straight, he is not stupid. He can read people very well and just because he acts friendly towards you, does not mean he likes you. Phillip is observant and is not fooled by outward appearances.
Though Phillip is laid back, he isn't always forthcoming. He rarely puts his full trust in anyone, and has learned after many years as a Prince the ways to hide his true desires. Though he is very social, he doesn't ever reveal a lot about himself to others. This can become very frustrating to everyone is his life, especially those trying to get close to him.
Phillip is definitely a sore loser. He does not like losing anything, or being wrong. When something frustrates him he will often just put it aside, rather than work on it. More than losing, he does not like asking for help. His pride can be a positive and a negative part of his personality.
History: Being born a prince, Phillip was betrothed at an early age. Even then, his fiery personality ruled, and he was not happy with this choice. As he grew older, he fell for a girl who he assumed to be a peasant, and manipulated his father into allowing him to marry her. Little did he know that girl was Princess Aurora, the princess he was betrothed to originally. On his way to meet her, he is captured by Maleficent and told of the curse she placed on Aurora. She then turns him into a monster, and despite his condition manages to convince Belle to save him. After explaining his situation, Belle introduces him to Mulan who offers to help him find Aurora.
On his way to save the princess, Phillip and Mulan are frozen in time by the Dark Curse. After the spell was broken, he continued on to find his true love with Mulan in tow. After waking up Aurora with True Love's first kiss, a wraith attacked and Phillip, being Phillip, had to protect the ones he cared about. Without consulting with either women, Phillip snuck away in hopes to defeat the monster. Unfortunately for Phillip, he was marked to be killed. After his soul was taken from his body, he despairingly watched as Aurora and Mulan mourned over his body.
For a time longer than he wished, his soul remained detached from his body. He followed Mulan and Aurora, trying to connect with them in any way he could. Suddenly, without warning, his soul returned to his body and he woke up in a strange place. Desperate to find someone familar, Phillip searches Storybrooke in hopes to find Aurora and Mulan.
Likes: Phillip loves horseback riding, but only with Samson of course. He enjoys sparring, whether it be hand to hand or with a sword. One of his greatest joys is peacefully painting; he loves to paint landscapes but doesn't mind the occasional model at all. He enjoys the occassional puff on a pipe and swig of the drink. He loves ladies of all lands, and relishes in spirited debates. Generally Phillip enjoys most social situations and meeting new people.
Dislikes: Maleficent, cut and dry. He hates shooting a bow (but mostly that is because he is a sore sport) and consequentially hates losing. Birds freak him out, and he finds them to be dirty and filthy. Phillip hates shaving, and will be seen with a beard or scruff at all times. Phillip despises the nickname "Phil" and doesn't quite like being called Prince either.
Roleplay Example:
"Samson, will you get a move on?" Prince Phillip lightly nudged his horse with his right the foot. Samson whinneyed and shook his long, golden-colored mane as if to say 'I will do as a I see fit'. Apparently, horses didn't have deadlines. His father was expecting him over a half hour ago, and he knew he could only push it so far. Never had Phillip hurt Samson, or yelled at him in any way, but there was a first time for everything...
As Phillip contemplated ways to make Samson move, the horse suddenly took off, almost causing Phillip to fly off. "Whoa now!" He tightened his legs around the horses body, holding on for his life. The horse made a sound that resembled a laugh, and despite his annoyance, Phillip laughed with him. He slumped his shoulders forward and closed his eyes as a soft breeze rippled through his hair.
Only with Samson did he feel free. He was given Samson at a young age, and as the two grew up together, their personalities matched. He couldn't ever stay mad at the magnificient creature who was also his best friend. When he looked into Samson's eyes he saw understanding and loyalty, traits which were very hard for a prince to find. Sure, Phillip had many "friends", but not one did he share his secrets with. He opened his eyes and looked forward, realizing they were minutes from the castle. "Cool it Samson" he commanded softly.
This time Samson gave into his masters wishes, slowing his pace. The horse also knew their time was almost up for the day, and soon Phillip would be wisked away for some obscure human activities. Phillip sighed, running his fingers through short, brown hair, hoping to make himself a little more presentable before reaching his father. He had spent the entire afternoon painting, and didn't wish to return. He knew his father would disapprove of his tardiness, though it was almost half expected at this point. Phillip was unlike other princes, he had no interest in money and power. Though his father was proud of his son, Phillip always sensed the disappointment behind his father's steel blue eyes.
As the forest began to filter out into a few sparce trees, a sound drifted upon Phillip's ears, such a majestic sound that it caused both he and Samson to freeze in place. After a moment he began to realize the sound was singing; a song so familiar, a voice so intoxicating he could hardly stand it.
"Come on Samson, father will just have to get over it", Phillip tapped Samson again with his right foot, this time with urgency. Samson took off again, as Phillip invisioned the angel that awaited them....
